122 MARTINI FOR ME...

After the stunning Castrol-themed Toyotas caught my attention, I delved into the world of rally cars. I discussed this with Carl on WhatsApp and soon exchanged images of small cars designed to resemble fire-breathing, gravel-crushing beasts.
As Carl and I sent the files, Lisa saw one and said she preferred it. The style was not the Lancia Delta Martini homage livery, but that of a slot car (Scalectrix) recreated in Forza Motorsport. I wondered: Should we stay with Martini but employ a different look?
The Lancia Delta Martini colour scheme is iconic but has been done to death. A quick image search via Google will show lots of Abarths, Pandas, Fiestas, and even Hyundais bedecked in stripes that bounce from front wheel to back, so maybe we should look at something newer.

The image Lisa likes looks simple and clean (see picture). The navy/pale blue side stripes sit under the bold red, which then wraps over the first section of the bonnet and is closed off by a repeat of the navy/pale blue stripes. This effect is repeated on the back to give a stylish look that, on paper, should be easy to recreate with our magnet sheets.
Its strength is also its weakness, though. It looks simple and clean, which gives the impression that it hasn’t been worked on, as there is still a lot of white on display. All this white allows us to embellish the design, adding our own Martini badges, numbers, the all-important New Start logo, and the fundraising QR code.
The image also shows the car with black wheels. It looks boss. I’m in a quandary! The plan was always to spray the wheels white, as that is what the Lancia was fitted with, but if we aren’t doing the Lancia theme, I’m free to go mad with the nero (as the Italians might say).
I’m happy to drive around post-rally with black alloys. If I spray them white, the plan is to get them refurbished at some point in the future to restore them to their original colour (silver with black accents). So, I'd save myself money by picking an alternative scheme with black alloys, too! What to do, what to do...
